You can view my original post about P.A.S.S. here, but the long and short of it is that P.A.S.S. stands for “Post-Apocalyptic Skill Set“, which is basically just skills, abilities, and knowledge that would come in handy if there was an apocalypse, if society crumbled, or other similar scenarios. In simpler less dramatic terms, they are the things that people in the past had to know how to do in order to live. For me that means working on skills like garden growing, canning/preserving those foods I grow, being able to make and repair clothing, basic carpentry skills, etc. I’m not learning this stuff because I sincerely think there is going to be an apocalypse, I’m not a tinfoil hat wearing paranoid conspiracy theorist. I mostly just think it is fun to know we’d be able to get by if we were suddenly cut off from power and conveniences like grocery stores and department stores, or if we suddenly were in a situation where we couldn’t afford to spend as much on food and clothing etc.
Plus, we’ve had some pretty epic storms of late that have knocked out power for weeks, so having at least SOME level of preparedness and self-sufficiency isn’t a bad idea, amirite?
If nothing else, it is fun!
